A few years ago, affiliate marketing was nothing but a pipe dream for most people. Today, it is a reality. In fact, an increasing number of companies are providing affiliate internet marketing programs. As an affiliate, this provides some great advantages for you if you want to make more money.

First, here is a quick recap on affiliate marketing. As an affiliate you agree to market and sell products for a merchant. You earn a commission on every click, lead, or sale you make depending on the type of affiliate program it is.

Here is the first trend I want to talk about. Average people are making money with affiliate marketing in record numbers. The reason for this is that people are more accustomed to purchasing online. No longer do you have to overcome the stigma of safety when it comes to selling products on the internet.

This is a big advantage to the affiliate marketer who now can see a higher ratio of visitors to sales. Of course this means more commissions, which leads to more people wanting to get involved with affiliate marketing.

The next trend I want to talk about is multiple streams of income. What is happening is affiliate marketers are joining programs, setting up websites of their own to sell these products, building follow-up mailing lists for these websites, putting together a marketing campaign and then moving on to other programs as soon as these are profitable.

This makes it possible to earn anywhere from a few dollars to thousands of dollars on each program and then begin to branch out and have affiliate internet marketing programs in different niches.

I'm talking about niches of a very narrow or specific theme. For example, instead of a health website, you might have a website on fibromyalgia. Instead of a sports website, you might have a sports ticket website, and so on.

One final trend to discuss is blogging. Blogging has become big business and an excellent way to combine internet marketing with affiliate marketing. Search engines love blogs as do social directories and social networking sites.

It is a great way to get traffic to a website by using your blog as a website. If you do not have a blog you need to get one if you are an affiliate marketer. Blogs are a great way to build relationships and to build a mailing list to sell to as well.

In the end, the final choice for your affiliate internet marketing program will be up to you. Use these valuable tips for making the best choice on your next affiliate products / services to sell.
