When choosing for pet to have for your kids at home, the cats are perhaps one of the most preferred options; this does involve some basic cat care though. Feline animals are cuddly, colorful, extremely playful and easy to train. Although there are some innate attitudes that you might find destructive or maddening such as constant scratching which could be done on any furniture at home either on your couch or bookshelf, peeing unto the rugs on the doorway or hair left on your pillow and bed sheets, these and more can be addressed with proper and patient training. rnAs they are not self-sufficient, they constantly need the guidance and help of their owners on whatever activities that they would want to do most especially those that are part of their necessities such as grooming, feeding as well as waste disposal. rnJust like any creature, cats require food to live. Although the requirements vary from one breed to another, it is true for all feline creatures that they should be given something to eat at least once daily. It should also be remembered that as animals, they are highly dependent of us. Their routine is also governed by memory; therefore, owners should feed their pet at the same time and corner of the house everyday. This will help your pet remember where the food is stationed and their diet habits will be maintained. rnFeeding your feline companion is not just simply the act of giving food. Important gestures for cat care should be known for your cat to enjoy every feeding session. Here are some tips to follow: • Cats though playful would prefer to have a nice and quiet place for eating. It is therefore important that you choose that spot in your home that is far away from the busy spot of your home. It is then not advisable to feed your pet in the corner of your kitchen easily during breakfast. For choosing the spot, make sure that you can easily clean the surface where the food bowl was stationed for it is unavoidable that your pet will have spillage. A tiled floor or mat is best recommended. • If you have more than one cat, be sure to station their food bowls distant from each other. This is to avoid confrontation or bullying especially among old and younger felines. • Drastically changing the food you give your pet will result in indigestion. Therefore, if you plan to change their food, slowly introduce it by mixing a portion of the old food with the new one until such time that they get use to the new taste and color. Canned foods opened beyond 24 hours should not be given to your pet as well as wet food, which has been standing for more than 20 minutes for this will also render upset stomach. Do not mix new ration with leftovers.
