The CCTV Recorder has come a long way. Gone are those days of VHS tapes, which provided poor quality audio/video footage. It also needed to be replaced frequently. Today, recorders have become space efficient and provide various storage options. Closed circuit television recorders are called DVRs; digital video recorder.
Today, most of the recorders are hard drive based, very similar to computers. These have massive storage space. They can be used non-stop for weeks and months.
These devices can be connected to computers or monitors as the case may be. Video footage from these recorders can be copied on DVDs with the help of computer, thereby allowing the footage to be archived for future reference. These recordings can also be backed up on external drives and flash drives.
Contemporary recorders have the facility to playback recordings from a chosen location. Its search and skip feature makes it easy to jump from one scene to another.
In today's digital environment, it is easy to protect your home, office, factory or shop with CCTV Equipment. A CCTV system comes in two flavours.
1. PC based surveillance systems.
2. Digital Video Recorders (DVR) based.
Both the above mentioned options can have several cameras. Closed circuit television equipment consists of: cameras, receiver, DVR and monitor to view the video footage. If the system is PC based then DVR is not required as the rushes can be directly stored on hard disk.
