Central Teachers' Eligibility Test (CTET)

The Teacher Eligibility test (TET), and the Central Teachers' Eligibility Test (CTET) is an initiative by the government of India to improve the standards in teaching. This test is conducted by both the State government and the Central government. India being in highest percentage of young individual in comparison to other countries in the world the government is laying down great emphasis on right of children of free and compulsory education, this requires the recruitment of large numbers of qualified teachers across the country. To ensure that the teachers possess the essential aptitude and ability to meet the challenges of teaching at the primary and upper primary the state conducts the Teachers Eligibility Test.

This test will help in bringing a national standard and a benchmark of teacher quality in the recruitment process. The minimum qualification to give this test is a Bachelors in Education degree from a recognized university by the state. If the teacher clears the test and gets the required percentage he/she is employed as teachers in CBSE schools across the country.

The test will have two papers with multiple choice questions, Each papers consists of 150 questions. Paper 1 will be for the candidate who intends to be a teacher for classes I to V, and paper 2 will be for the candidate who intends to be a teacher for classes VI to VIII. Candidate who wants to teach from class I to VIII will have to appear in both the papers.

The question paper has five parts which gives importance to Child Development and Pedagogy, Language I, Language II, Mathematics, Environment Studies. Minimum percentage to pass the test is 60% or more. Since this test acts like a license for teachers so that they teach in government or private run schools, Individual state also conducts this test such as UPTET (Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test) under the same guidelines laid down by the National Council for Teachers Education (NCTE).

To clear the test one needs to keep the time limit as the most important criteria for which prior practice of solving the question paper within a time frame will be important to get through the test. The question in the Environmental studies will be on a general pattern. And in the Language part make sure you have a good grip on the literature and English language One can also go through NCERT books and other than that there are also books available in the market to crack this test.
