According to a study, almost two-thirds of the CEOs do not receive any coaching be it related to leadership or managerial. You do not feel any need of a coach when things are going well. However, you should not wait until a blunder occurs. CEO coaching is one of the most important things for your organization. One of the most important areas of CEO development programs is conflict resolution. Conflict resolution is very important for the success of the company. When any file reaches the desk of the CEO it can make someone happy as well as make another one unhappy. Conflicts can shut down the whole organization. The task of the CEO is to reach to the root of the conflict and then try to resolve it. So taking coaching in this field can be beneficial for the CEO as well as for the organization. Unfortunately, some people think CEO coaching as remedial and not as a performance enhancer. They think they will take coaching only when they need it. And how will they identify this need? If they fail in certain business, then they will take coaching. However, once you fail, your reputation in the organization is already lost. You should see coaching as a tool to enhance your overall performance. The board members should also be open to coaching. They should not shy to talk about these matters with their executive team. Taking a professional CEO coaching does not mean that your CEO is not good enough. Instead, it should be seen as a performance enhancer. We all are humans. No matter how talented you are, you will still have some defects. No one is perfect. However, coaching helps you to reach near perfection. The idea of coaching is not the responsibility of the CEO only. In fact, it should be aided by board members and other top executives. Chief Human Resource Officer should also take a lead role in this direction. The CEO should be open to feedback. This will allow him to know about his strengths and weakness. Once, the CEO and board members have identified the weaknesses, they should opt for a CEO training program to remove those weaknesses. A good CEO knows what should be improved in the company as well as in himself. Most of the times, training starts with the help of the board of directors. They identify some actionable development areas and then advise the CEO to work in those areas. The CEO may also be required to undergo a personal development program to better assist in the training. Many CEO organizations can help your CEO in his development. A good CEO should be able to manage everything in the organization, be it business-related or work environment-related. Good managerial skills are not enough to run an organization. You should also have good communication skills and an impressive personality. Remember, no one sees your talent in the first meeting, it is your personality that speaks for you.
