Change Our Minds

There are times when we have our minds made up about something. We have decided we are going to do or not do something and we will not change our minds for anything. There are other times when our minds are filled with negativity and doubt. It seems as if we want to have a pity party and want to feel bad. It is so easy to have our minds fixed on the things of the world because those things are all around us; however, God is all around us as well and we need to fix our thoughts on Him.

Isaiah 26:3 “You will keep in perfect peace all who trust in you, all whose thoughts are fixed on you!”

It’s time we made the decision to change our minds. It’s time we put our thoughts on what God wants us to think about rather than what we believe we should. It’s time we learned to control our thoughts so they are fixed on God and what He desires us to do in life rather than using our thinking for the things of the world and worry about what we will do about the things that are not going our way.

When we trust in God, our thoughts are on Him. When we desire to do His will, we are focused on His word. When we are seeking ways to help others and be God’s example to them, we aren’t thinking about what we want or need but what others need and what God wants us to do for them.

We need to fix our thoughts on the things of God. We need to focus on how good He is and do the good He wants us to do. We need to remember how He loves us and ask Him to help us love as He does. We need to know He is worthy of praise and spend time in our minds thanking Him for all He has done and will do. When we change our minds to the things of God, we can begin putting into practice what He wants us to do so we can be pleasing to Him.

When we change our minds to the things God wants us to think about rather than what we want to, we will find peace. God wants us to know He is in control of all things. He wants us to focus on Him so we will know He will handle our smallest and biggest problems. When we change our minds to believe in Him and trust Him in all we do, we will be able to put our feelings aside and help others so we can make a difference.

Philippians 4:8-9 “And now, dear brothers and sisters, one final thing. Fix your thoughts on what is true, and honorable, and right, and pure, and lovely, and admirable. Think about things that are excellent and worthy of praise. Keep putting into practice all you learned and received from me—everything you heard from me and saw me doing. Then the God of peace will be with you.”
