Search Engine Optimization (SEO) and Search Engine Marketing (SEM) is a dynamic field. Everyday there is some change in the behavior of search engines and their mechanism to search and index data from different websites. There was a time when link exchange was the most popular way for increasing ranks of a website. However, that is matter of past. Nowadays, search engines prefer relevance as well as freshness of contents presented on websites. These days, website contents are prime concern of search engines. Quality, uniqueness, and freshness of contents appearing on a webpage are directly responsible for quick indexing of a website by search engines. Well, links are still important, but the relevance plays the key role. Nowadays, search engine have employed strict check on relevance and their links algorithm is able to distinguish the difference between quality back links and irrelevant back links. To gain higher ranking in search engines, one needs to work strategically. Webmasters are taking help of Search Engine Optimization and Search Marketing campaigns . Their aim is to attract more and more organic traffic. Directory submission, blog marketing, article syndication, press release distribution, social bookmarking, and RSS feeds are some the traditional ways of website promotion, which are still relevant. Certainly, these campaigns are of great help, but again continuity has its own importance. The work is not over once after getting top ranks. This is among one of the major mistakes done by a majority of website owners. Once they get top rankings and expected organic traffic to their website, they either stop SEO or reduce the pace of optimization and search marketing. In result, their rankings (along with traffic and sales) start dipping. To avoid such issues, people should use the latest techniques of website optimization and search engine marketing. Nowadays, Social Media Optimization (SMO) and Social Business Networking (SBN) are two important aspects of a website’s online promotion. It is tough to get expected results in a website’s promotion campaign without integrating social media and online social business networking. Webmasters need to keep pace with the changing search mechanism. All search engines have different priorities for indexing and rankings. In order to stay on top of all major search engines, webmasters need to adopt updated techniques. Else they will end up losing traffic and sales.
