Good, you need a website for your business. How do you ensure that your site will then do what it should do? There are really many ways to build a website. You can build the code from scratch, but then you need an experienced site builder. Or you use a platform with a content management system (CMS) that offers a number of ready-made elements.rnWordPress is such a platform for websites that is widely used. It is free, there are many functionalities possible and you can basically go in any direction with your design. But with a good platform you don't necessarily have a good website. rnWhat is a good website?rnA good website must roughly meet the following requirements:
  • That must look professional
  • Your site must also work well mobile
  • The visitor must understand within a few seconds what he can 'get' on your site.
  • Your site must be searchable in search engines.
  • Your site must load quickly: otherwise visitors will drop out immediately.
  • The navigation of your site must be user-friendly
  • Visitors should be able to easily visit multiple, relevant pages.
  • The pages of your website must be able to be shared on social media
  • You must know how your site is performing
  • Your website must be free from malfunctions and hackerproof
1. A professional looking website A visitor forms an opinion about your site and about you and your company within seconds. Therefore, make sure that the look of your site matches the look that you strive for. At WordPress you can choose from thousands of 'themes' that determine the design of your site. Many themes are free, but not all. They sometimes fit better with your goal, often have more options and the better themes are also developed with a focus on SEO. 2. A site that works on all devices The majority of your site visitors will probably come to your website via a tablet or smartphone. Therefore make sure that your site is 'responsive'. That means that your site looks good on all sizes of screens and that your menu is also visible and functioning on every device. Do not forget to test either the theme is responsive or not, if you’re using WordPress. 4. Findability in search engines If your site is not visible in Google or Bing, you will either not be able to attract large numbers of visitors. Or you will constantly have to put a lot of effort into it. So make sure that your site performs optimally and that search engines understand what your site is about. 5. Good content An important way to achieve a good position in Google (in addition to good technology, speed and incoming links) is to publish good content. Good content offers more than web pages from other websites. 6. Speed and HTTPS There is nothing more irritating for a site visitor than a slow website. Certainly if the majority of your visitors come mobile and possibly have to do with a public Wi-Fi connection that may not be too fast. Experts at web design providence recommends quick fix; because if a website is not on the screen within a few seconds, then a good portion of your visitors will already drop out. 7. Clear navigation The navigation of your site shows people the way and also shows them what else can be found on your site. The trick is to create a logical and clear structure for all content that you offer on your site. 8. Give visitors more value Many visitors come to your site with a specific question or thought. For example via Google or via a link on another site or on social media. The first page where they arrive must of course be good. But don't forget to also offer visitors a second and third page. The longer you manage to bind a visitor, the longer he or she will remember you positively.
