Metropolitan cities are growing rapidly in India but somewhere we feel that Chennai though which is one among them has the cheapest cost of living and apartments in Chennai are affordable but it is comparatively slower in the aspect of infrastructure, fashion and especially lags behind the other metropolitan cities in startups but nowadays it is trying really hard and slowly pacing along with its counterparts. Different ideas are been brought out to make Chennaites to keep upgraded with the rest of the cities. And in today’s world it seriously needs an upgrade intellectually. As Jawaharlal Nehru once said, “Madras is the great Intellectual capital of India – not only south of India, but the whole of India”. More ideas which can help people convey their thoughts, opinions and expressions are needed. This would remind everyone of the well-known television talk show in one of the famous channels, where a group of people are made to debate for and against a specific topic every week similar platform must be brought out for wider range of people to participate Many new ideas which provide a sense of community have been installed in the city. The leading industrial personalities and business men who have built their companies in the Chennai city have come together to build and resurrect Chennai’s image as an Intellectual capital by making a platform for one to express his or her free expressions and thoughts based on not just day to day topics but covers issues in politics, art, climate and many more. This platform is called The Chennai International Centre which has been started recently in Chennai ten years after Bangalore got its own before which three other cities has similar circles. According to founders the platform will elevate Chennai’s social community and encourage the not so discussed topics to come into limelight. Among the people involved, TVS family scion Gopal Krishnan who heads the TVS capital and the software exporter company Cognizant Technology solutions’ founder are part of the circle who will help and guide in hosting major posts as it is a not for profit company. Major speakers have been roped in for lectures, speeches and seminars and interactive sessions. One of the events that took place were an interactive session with honorable minister Smt Nirmala Sitharaman who graduated from Sithalakshmi Ramaswami college, Tiruchirapalli. Masters from Jawaharlal Nehru college. This event was moderated by Dr Preethi Reddy who is the executive vice chairperson of Apollo hospitals and works with this organization’s eight thousand clinicians for reviewing the global medical advancements. The main motive of the centre is to make the achievers of yesterday, tomorrow and today meet, debate, interact and bring out new transformative ideas and to add on to that, The Chennai International Centre encourages cross- cultural conversation, history and culture of Chennai so that it can be a role model for everyone for a socio- economic change in the city especially among youngsters as many sessions are organized with educational institutions as well.
