Chiropractic Care & Autism: It’s all about turning on the power again

During my schooling in natural health, I worked as a chiropractic assistant. I learned that nerve impulses from the spine to the body organs are the brain’s way of communicating with those body organs or systems; and if there was interference with that communication, then problems can occur. The chiropractor’s “job” is to remove the impingement on the spinal nerves.

I told a lot of people about chiropractic, including a friend, a young mother with an autistic son. The boy had been born “normal” but had developed autism after receiving an MMR vaccine at the age of 2. Of course there was nothing medically that could be done, and I hadn’t yet learned homeopathy, so there was little I knew either.

But her insurance wouldn’t pay for chiropractic care, and the money needed for a special needs child was high, so she opted not to have the care. Two years later, however, the boy developed a high fever that paralyzed him from the waist down. Having new insurance now, the mother brought the boy to the clinic for chiropractic care. The chiropractor did his exam and adjusted the boy’s neck.

That evening, the mother called me at home to tell me the boy had started walking within 30 minutes after the adjustment, and began running through the house shortly thereafter!

They continued chiropractic care for the 13 visits the insurance allowed per year, spreading the appointments over 6 months.

A short time after that, we received a call from the mom asking us to come to the home because a local TV crew doing a story on the boy’s miraculous healing!

But upon our arrival, the reporter stated she couldn’t add that the boy had received chiropractic care because every parent would then believe their child could be healed from chiropractic care. Instead, she interviewed all those who were in the special “approved” programs for autistic children like the speech therapist and such, crediting the boy’s healing to their diligence.

The mother, during her interview, had stated the major change in the child since he had chiropractic care, how the medical community stated the boy would be paralyzed for the rest of his life but after one adjustment, he could walk again—but all of it was edited out.

So I decided to tell the story, about the benefits of chiropractic care for those with autism. Yes, this might have been an isolated incident; but there is no harm in trying. Even with the 13 visits the insurance allowed, the boy improved to the point where he was able to start kindergarten with all the other kids his age.

But I truly realized the benefit of this boy’s chiropractic care shortly after he had stopped chiropractic care (but kept in the other programs) and his behavioral health began to deteriorate again. He continued walking, but he headed towards the autistic condition again. It wasn’t long, a few months, before he was taken out of kindergarten and put into a special school for developmentally challenged children.

The only thing that had changed in this boy’s “healing program” was that he had stopped chiropractic care.

Best wishes,

Dr. Ronda
