What is a Chocolate Cyst? Chocolate Cysts, a type of ovarian cyst, occurs with endometriosis, and are named so as they are filled with excess old blood which has turned dark red or chocolate brown in colour. How Do They Occur?
The endometrial tissue in one’s body is likely to change with the amount of hormones in the body. The estrogen and progesterone levels, during menstrual cycle, will usually irritate the extra endome-trial tissue, thereby causing swelling and pain. As this endometrial tissue with an abnormal growth does not exit the body along with the healthier tissues, it gets trapped in the ovaries, forming ovarian cysts. Does it Affect Your Fertility?
Chocolate cysts are quite common and occur in almost 30-40% of the women with endometriosis. While it is a common notion that chocolate cysts are likely to cause infertility, it may not be the case for everyone. Studies reveal that they do not always affect your fertility.
Chocolate cysts forms as extremely small lesions on the ovaries, and is generally not a matter of concern. Nevertheless, cysts that grow considerably or cause excessive pain during periods can have a bearing on one’s fertility as they stay in the reproductive system and interfere with the monthly shedding of uterine lining. Larger chocolate cysts are also known to lessen the egg quality. How to Treat Chocolate Cysts?
While there are several treatments like laparoscopic surgery available for removal of chocolate cysts, most of the best IVF doctors in India recommend leaving the small, painless cysts as they are, as there is a chance of creating scar tissue during the removal, which can worsen the cyst or damage healthy ovarian tissue.
Nonethe-less, large and painful cysts need to be treated or removed through surgery at the earliest as its content can enter the pelvic cavity if it ruptures. Large cysts, which are likely to cause damage to the ova-ries or affect the egg quality and ovarian reserve, happen to be a cause for concern, and need to be treated by medical profession-als.
Apart from surgery, there are several natural therapies which can tackle small chocolate cysts. These therapies include fertility cleansing, antimicrobial herbal formula, nutrient dense fertility diet and balancing excess estrogen with diindolylmethane.
For women suffering from fertility problems due to chocolate cysts, the above mentioned natural therapies are more beneficial than the surgical treatments for their infertility treatment in Delhi.
