If you’re trying to venture into direct mail advertising, then it’s an imperative that you find the most trusted direct mail company in your area. The wrong choice of service provider can pull your business down. Direct mail companies can provide for you services which you’re not very good at or could not handle on your own. These include packaging, printing, copywriting, providing graphics, and laying things out on the page. Sometimes, this also covers pre-marketing research work and shipment/postage. Know what you need To know which direct mail company to trust, you first need to identify the areas you need help with. Are you a good copywriter? Can you layout the text and images attractively on your own? Do you have enough manpower for packaging? How about for shipments and research? Do you think your own staff is capable of fulfilling these tasks on their own? If you’ve had very little experience and training on these tasks and if you’ve surveyed your manpower and found them inadequate for this particular marketing strategy, don’t be afraid to outsource. It’s natural for service providers to want to put their best foot forward. If you really want to get to know service providers better, look for community forums. You can find these forums simply by keying in “direct mail services” on any search engine. Be discerning, though, when it comes to forum posts. Not all of them are authentic. Some may be written by affiliate marketers who were paid to put certain companies in a good light. Fortunately, they’re easy to spot because they’re full of hype statements. Trust posts which give enough information about a particular company’s service, gives both the weaknesses and the strengths of the company concerned, and identifies the exact service received. Remember, direct mail companies don’t give template services. While one business owner might be happy about the service s/he received from the mailing company, you might not be because you’re looking for a completely different kind of direct mailing service. Friend referrals also help. However, be very careful if the friend who referred you to the company is actually a competition. S/he might only be giving you the second-best service provider out there. Look further.
