Whether you're looking for a large or medium dog crate for your home or yard or something smaller to transport your pet when you travel, there are some things you should consider before you start spending your hard earned money.

There isn't a lot to dog crates and dog carriers, but the more you know about what's available, the more prepared you're going to be when you buy.

Three Main Types of Dog Crates:

Collapsible Dog Cages - These are usually made out of metal wire, but they can occasionally be found made from reinforced plastic. (If you have a large dog, or even a medium sized one, you're going to want to go with stainless steel.) While you can transport these (and transport animals in them), they're primarily made to help train animals and give them a place in your home that they can call their own - almost a "den.".

Knowing that this is their safe place where they can relax and calm down if they are aggressive or too excitable is an obedience technique used as part of dog training. However, they should not be used for discipline.

Plastic Dog Carriers - These are typically made out of strong plastic, and come apart into two pieces (generally, the top lifts off.) Their main use is to transport small and medium dogs. They come in a lot of different shapes, sizes, and styles, which makes it possible to really customize the carrier for your dog's personality.

Dog crates are great for dog training, as it can give them a place to relax or calm down if they get too excitable. This is especially good for trained dogs and as part of security dog training, as it helps them learn a routine by going into their cage when they are "off duty" or to sleep.

Aluminum Dog Crates - While plastic and collapsible dog crates are good for the dog but they are breakable as the dogs have the habit of chewing which can easily break these types of crates. So, it is ideal to choose a dog crate made from aluminum.

One example is Zinger aluminum dog crates. Zinger is a brand who is popular for making unbreakable crates for pets including dogs and cats.rnBy investing in Zinger aluminum dog crates, you actually save a lot of money as you can use the same cage in future for other pets where cleaning an aluminum crate is much easier than plastic dog cage.

Depending on the size of your dog and what you're looking for in a dog crate, you have a lot of different options open to you. You'll want to make sure that your dog can move around and lie down comfortably in the pet crate or carrier, whatever you decide to go with, depending on the breed of dog that you have.

If you're like most people, your pet is a very important part of your life. With that in mind, when choosing the right dog crate, you'll want to think about your pet and how they're going to feel about the decision you make.

Spending a little extra money to get a great dog crate cage shouldn't make you feel guilty when you realize how long your pet might be spending in the cage.
