Life Fundas 2: Living Life on Life's terms

Are there any pre-defined terms of Life, when adhered to , can make our lives better or makes the world around us a better place to live. To come to think of it, Yes - there are certain basic fundamental truths of life and the best thing we can do is to accept some of the time tested ones unconditionally.There are others principles to live our life we need to accept, but before accepting them on face value, I suggest you to evaluate them first -because without evaluating it, acceptance means conforming. We humans are basically unruly or unaccepting species. n nThe benefit of Acceptance is that it offers undeniable reasons to let go of grief and bitterness so that peace within and without has more room to prevail. n n nHere are a few facts and principles for you to consider. You are at liberty to accept them, reject them, dissect them or evaluate them - the choice always remains with you - but THINK about them.n n1. Too much of anything material is bad for us . Whether it is use of alcohol, drugs, food, sex or even love for money - too much of any of these things makes us a slave and we dance to its tunes.However when we involve ourselves passionately in unconditional service of others - whether fellow human beings, animals or have the passion to make our surroundings a better place to live, then we feel better inside........think about it and let me know if this life's term has other exceptions.n n2. Everybody may not like you : Most of us think about ourselves to be very loving and likable people and we expect others to like us inspite of the way we behave towards others or react to situations in life. It is not only our behavior or our reaction to situations, there are many things also which may not appeal to other people about us....it can be the color of our skin, our face or the way we talk or the way we dress. Sometimes jealousy and envy are also reasons for some people not to like you...they may want to have what you have.....more money...a beautiful wife/a smart handsome husband or just about anything you have and they do not. There is another category of people the whom wehave hurt (intentionally or unintentionally)...we are on their hate list. whatever our intentions.... if we hurt somebody they get hurt." people know us by our actions and not intentions" .....The best thing for you and me is to accept the fact that everybody may not like us .....and not worry.( A tip to make people like you - be a good listener)n n3. Life is like a looking glass : I smile and my reflection in the looking glass smiles backn.....I make faces...my reflection is exactly the same. Similarly, in life If I smile and reachingnout to people ......they tend to do the same....So If I expect others to love me, understand me and respect me...I should take the initiative to love them first, understand them first and respect them first. n n4. Life will remain unjust & unfair: People dying in terriost attacks.....others dying due to natural ncalamities like drought or floods.....yet a few others jumping off from buildings or hanging themselves....and many many other misshapenness one can think about. Doesn't it come to your mind.......There is no God.....if he was there He would have taken care of his children.....and not let these people die such painful deaths.....Friends if You and me can do something to save these people or ....lets get on with the job and go all out to help them ........if not...lets pray for their souls and accept it as a fact of life.n n5. Change - A continuous process -Friends, another fact of our lives is that we are changing....either negative or positive - there are some of the changes which we cannot stop ...like growing older....and this is the easiest thing we can do with respect to change " It is easier to grow older than grow wiser"....And to change ourselves to be wiser and better human beings - we need to work on ourselves - on a continuous basis.......again the choice lies with us...n n n6. Time Moves On - and unfortunately...life is a one time affair and "NOT a dress rehearsal"(a beautiful book)....... I wish it was like an audio cassette where I could erase it and rerecord it again and again and againn......till I am satisfied. But pheeeew.......it is not like that...There will not be another now...or another me........and the best thing I can do is to make most of Today.n n n7.
