Christian weight loss...is it any different than non-Christian weight loss? Actually weight loss is the same for everyone, except for one grand thing. As a Christian you have the grace of God to help you through it. That’s big!nnJesus not only saves us, but His Spirit helps us in our weaknesses. When it comes to weight loss, we need help! This article contains scriptures with comments that will encourage, inspire and help you to get on the weight loss track and stay there. Allow the Holy Spirit to give you the strength you need to lose weight through these scriptures.nn1 Cor 3:16nnDon't you know that you yourselves are God's temple and that God's Spirit lives in you? nnWhat an encouragement! God’s Spirit lives in you and He is there to give you the strength you need to follow Jesus...and to lose weight. Why should God care about your weight? Because He loves you, He wants the best for you, and because your body is His temple, He wants your body to be healthy for His service and glory. So trust in God and give Him your best and He will do the rest. nnRom 14:17-18nn17 For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, n18 because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. nnOkay, relax a little. The kingdom of God is not a matter of what you eat or drink. No, God is not condemning you for being over weight. But He does love you and wants you to do your best to lose that unhealthy weight. So as you pursue your weight loss, be sure to pursue God first. nn2 Cor 5:17nnTherefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; the old has gone, the new has come! nnGood news! When you came to Jesus, God forgave the sins of your past so thoroughly that you are considered to be a brand new creation. The old you is gone (along with all it’s guilt and shame) and the totally new acceptable-to-God you has come. nnThat’s great, but guess what. The old body is still hanging around. Yep, too many calories still does the same thing to your body and that fat still looks the same. Your heart has changed, but you still have your body to work on, but now things are different! God is there to help you get that fat off!nn“Does that mean I don’t have to do anything...just leave it up to God? No, no, no. God is there to help you, not take you over. It’s still up to you to get on and to stay on a good diet and exercise program. And the nice thing about it is that now you can be sure that you can do it! How do I know? Because the Bible says “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength.” Phil 4:13 Jesus will give you all the strength you need to be what He wants you to be.nnSo what are you waiting for? You can count on God’s help; so get started on a good weight loss program and stick in there. A new, slimmer body awaits you.
