The search engine traffic can be very difficult to achieve, at times, depending on the niche you are in. This is because search results are becoming more saturated. There is, however, an easier way to get traffic. And that is through Google's CVB.

What are Google business listings? This is more commonly known as Google Local and Google sites. It is a way of including yellow pages, but all companies are included in the search results of Google. For example, suppose you have a bakery business in New York. Someone who makes a search for "bakery" will find all sorts of websites in search results - that is, bakeries worldwide. That is not what the search user is looking.

As Google came up with a clever way to provide relevant search listings for users. They allow business owners to list their business data into Google Places. Then, these results provide end users when searches are conducted.

Of course, for this to work, Google needs to ensure that all business data is still to date. For this reason, if you require your ad on Google Maps, you'll have to verify your account via email or post. Google does this to ensure that the business is a real place that exists in the maps. As a real person will have to verify the listing.

To claim your ad, follow these steps.

Step 1: Go to Google Local and create an account if you do not already have one. If you already have Gmail, you can use the back of the same account. Just look for the link that says Google Local on your account dashboard.

Step 2: Once at the site, follow the step by step instructions provided by Google. We are assuming that you verify your information via SMS, it is much faster than the verification by postcard. A card may take a couple of weeks to arrive, but SMS is immediate. Enter all business data and then enter the PIN that is sent in the SMS to verify your details.

Step 3: Once all steps have been completed, the listing will be live on Google search results.

But do not forget there is the presence of competition in the search results. On the first page, there is a maximum of 7 local listings. If there is more, some ads will be relegated to the second page. These lists will get exposure much lower compared to the first page.

To improve its local position, try to get your site listed in as many local sites as possible. Appointments arrive, the higher your score will be. This takes some time but with patience, is likely to claim the top spot in Google.
