Why Switch to Organic Foods on the HCG Diet? By making the decision to lose weight on the HCG Diet, you are also making the decision to get healthy. Part of healthy eating means switching to organic food whenever possible. There are a number of reasons to eat organic foods. Organic food has no artificial ingredients. Organic food is nutrient dense and healthier than food that is not grown organically. You will be avoiding the nasty effects of pesticides. Conventional farming uses a variety of chemical pesticides that leave a residue on the foods. There are no antibiotics or hormones used in certified organic foods. Crops grown organically are never genetically modified (GM.) Foods produced by a farm that is certified organic must adhere to strict guidelines of farming practices. They are routinely inspected to ensure these guidelines are followed. Organic farming is humane to animals. Healthy animals produce healthy meat. Organic farming is far better for the environment than conventional farming. Important Foods to Buy Organic Apples – They are soaked in pesticides. Organic apples are a top food choice on the HCG Diet. Green beans – Over 60 different pesticides are used on them! Green and red bell peppers – These gems are full of vitamin C, but also full of pesticides if not grown organically. Bananas – Bananas have an extremely short shelf life. Consequently they are saturated with chemicals. Strawberries – Buy organic when they are in season and frozen organic during the off season. Another HCG Diet favorite. Peaches – A summer favorite! They also have the highest amounts of illegally applied pesticides. Cherries – Yum! Buy organic because the conventionally grown cherries are drenched with pesticides. Apricots and grapes – If you cannot buy organic, buy a good fruit and veggie wash to thoroughly wash them before eating. Celery – Sad to report that this lovely veggie is also sprayed with nasty pesticides. Organic celery is a great choice on the HCG Diet. Cucumbers – Have your cucumbers lost their appeal? It’s probably because they have been doused with pesticides as well. They are another HCG Diet staple, so buy organic. Soybeans – Do your homework on these beauties. Most of them are genetically modified. These babies have herbicide spliced into their DNA. No matter how much you wash them, the pesticide is imbedded and you will be eating it. Baby food – Babies are more susceptible to chemicals
