One of the best things to come out of modern technology in the past several years is "the cloud." The cloud is a way for multiple computers to connect to a cloud server and perform various functions. From this new technology sprung another system called "software as a service." It is the simple system of providing access to cloud computers software as a service for clients. Imagine a company renting out the use of their cash register to any other business that needed it.
One of the places where the cloud comes into play is in the online advertising area. Mobile computing has sky rocketed through the past few years and this has created a multitude of advertising opportunities that did not exist five years ago. The result has made cross-channel marketing campaigns a juggling act that very few people look forward to at all.
Cross-channel marketing has gone from a few hours a week task to a full time job. Depending upon the size of the company, there may be the need for more than one person to handle the job. Until recently there has been no real effective manner for handling these tasks. The cloud has brought the ability for multiple users to share a piece of software without the need to download anything.
It works by simply logging on to the server after the initial sign up. A variety of services are available and the range of options can be quite diverse. This means that a company or individual of almost any size can find the right set of services to fit their needs. Cloud marketing software can handle multiple users under the same account, each sharing a portion of the workload or even working on the same project at the same time.
The interactivity between users can be as simple as leaving notes for another user or as complex as building multiple marketing campaigns through several phases with a different user on each phase. Different users can have different levels of control, allowing for one user to develop a campaign and another to have the final word on deployment.
Scaling is quick and easy on a cloud server. Often, cross-channel marketing will involve such a vast number of campaigns that a company may decide to place control under one cloud server. Adding the speed and space necessary is as easy as clicking a button. There are other types of virtual servers that companies have used for project management, but to alter services up and down can sometimes take a full 24 hours or more to complete.
Many companies that have been using other types of servers for their cross-channel campaign management will remember a long process of setting up back end software and modifying website files back and forth. Troubleshooting was a weekly or daily hassle that took as much time as the actual campaign management. This is not an issue with cloud servers, as the software and interfaces are all handled by the company that provides the services.
The cost can vary anywhere from completely free to higher depending upon the level of service, speed and the number of users that are needed. Any company, any individual that needs an organized way to handle their cross channel campaigns will find a good match with one or more services. The advent of the cloud server has revolutionized so many services that it will soon be possible to run several campaigns and never use a traditional computer. All of this can be done from any tablet, most cellular phones and, of course, a regular computer.
