Being a custom solution for your business a cloud PBX system can also be integrated with a GSM gateway to enjoy free mobile phone calls within a certain network. All you need is the physical gateway unit and a request to your service provider how to program the unit into the system. First of all a GSM gateway is a physical device that can the connected to your cloud PBX system, the unit appears like a router but has 1 or two slots for a SIM card depending on the model. Its main function is to connect VoIP calls to mobile and landlines. Cloud PBX service providers already have a gateway of their own thus you can call any mobile or landline using your VoIP phone. With that said you probably are wondering why would you need your gateway set up? Well this cannot be explained without knowing what telecommunication company does. Worldwide mobile phone carriers offer a business grade plan that provides free phone calls among the numbers within a plan and for businesses using cloud phone system who wishes to enjoy that service then they can with the help of the GSM gateway. So basically what you need to do is insert SIM card to your GSM gateway that is within that plan from your service provider so you can call your colleague’s mobile phone for free the same way they can call you on your cloud PBX system for free using his or her mobile. The main benefit of using the technology is being able to call your associates that are out of the office for free and the same way those associates can call the office for free. Generally there are two configurations you can set up a GSM gateway to a cloud PBX system first is an automated detection wherein the system will automatically detect if the mobile number you are calling is within your business plan from your carrier so instead of using your VoIP service provider’s network it will use your own. Second is via a manual override, before making a call to your colleague’s mobile you need to press a certain key like the pound sign, the asterisk or a combination pretty much like a password. Either way your VoIP provider will program it for you so you really need not do anything. GSM gateways can be purchased from your VoIP company or from any communication supply shops just be aware though that if you will be purchasing it outside you have to check first if it compatible with the current system that you have.
