With the success of VoIP phone systems particularly the cloud PBX many companies are now engaging the market and even traditional companies that used to offer on premised PBX now also have a cloud based phone system. The level of competition is beneficial for consumers as prices keeps getting better; however one drawback of having too many of service providers is confusion. These days you’ll often find a per handset system or a customized cloud PBX system although both share the same platform and uses the same technology the main difference is how it is deployed and offered to customers. Generally a cloud PBX system is beneficial in every way however finding the right deals is also important and one should not allow catchy marketing phrases and advertisements to affect an important business decision. Typically a per handset system are the phones that are offered individually, for an instance pay a certain amount for 1 unit, multiple channels up to 5 lines, a telephone number and some free calls. Costs vary from a service provider to another but ranges from $60 to $100. Although it may seem really catchy and cost effective but the truth is it’s not. Let’ say you are running a business that needs 5 phones then you have to purchase that plan 5 times then you have to pay that amount 5 times on a monthly basis and that excludes your calling charges. Well then some might think that the capacity will outweigh the price but does a 5 handset business needs 25 lines? Does a 5 handset business need more than 5 telephone numbers? Most probably not, then you will be paying for DID’s and lines that you really don’t need. Most business are better off with a customized cloud PBX system, this will allow you to have full control of your communication platform and only pay for the actual features, lines and DID’s that you really need. For example you need a 5 handset system then only pay for the actual capacity that you can handle maybe 5 lines at the most and 5 numbers. You can even scale that up or down anytime you wish so you can grow your business without having to spend a fortune in overhauling your phone system. Cost comparison between the two will reveal how much money you can save with a customized platform. Apart from price, the latter will also outweigh any other system in terms of features since it will be patterned and engineered according to your business model, your market and your own preferences unlike a one size fits all system that will require you to adapt to it instead of the other way around.
