Masters' in Business Administration (MBA) is one such degree which has attracted a large mass of youth from different academic backgrounds. It has gained much appreciation in India, in the recent years and has become one of the most coveted career option for the students. The core courses in the MBA program are designed to introduce students to the various areas of business such as accounting, finance, marketing, human resources, operations management, etc. However, like every other prestigious stream, there is an entrance exam to gain admission into any of the good MBA college in India. Earlier, to gain entry into the top notch management schools like Indian Institute of Management (IIM), one had to clear CAT (Common Admission Test). However, CMAT has been added for 2012 admissions into the B- management schools of India. It is a common entrance exam which will be conducted on a national basis. However, thorough preparation of syllabus and extra practice from sample papers is required to clear this challenging entrance exam. The Common Management Admission Test (CMAT) 2012 will be conducted by All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE).There is no academic preference for applying for the exam, candidates with a minimum of 50 per cent can apply for the exam. It will be a computer based exam, where the students will have to mark the answers online. More than 4000 B-Schools recognized by AICTE are expected to accept the CMAT and 1.6 lakhs seats will be available for the aspiring candidates. As you can see, unlike CAT, this is a much larger form of recruitment and will cover many areas/districts/towns. This means a larger number of candidates will be appearing the exam, which will lead to stiff competition. In such a scenario, merely studying the syllabus will not be helpful. One must realize that, practice is the only way to increase the accuracy of answering and framing better answers. Hence, preparation from sample papers is very essential. Also, since it is a computer based test, one must have computer literacy and must know how to operate them; you avoid problems while giving the exam.
