Key Duties and Responsibilities :

Determine machining requirements, dimensional specifications, and set up requirements from programs, process sheets and blueprints;
Perform set up and operation of the CNC honing machines;
Mount and align the required honing stones and fixtures;
Load CNC program into machine controls and make adjustments as required;
Set appropriate fixture or related jig to hold components securely for honing operations;
Check blue prints to verify machining dimensions; use mounted honing stones to machine a product to the final desired dimension;
Use appropriate measuring tools such as carbide gauge pins and air gauges to verify honing dimensions while recording data;
Qualify measuring gauges using laser micrometer prior to using gauges at beginning of each shift;
Maintain measuring tools and report any defects to the supervisor or lead hand;
Ensure that all machining tasks are completed in accordance with specified run times;
Conduct minor preventative maintenance procedures as scheduled;
Complete minor troubleshooting as required;
Observes and listens to machine operation in order to detect malfunctions such as worn or damaged honing tools when possible;
Responsible for the documentation of final sizes into the inspection data base;
Responsible for leading the honing team members by overseeing correct set ups and performing quality checks;
