Major depression is a serious disorder that can cause individuals to experience a wide variety of different symptoms, some of which can become so severe that it is often hard for individuals with this type of depression to carry on with their normal routine responsibilities and activities. In many cases of major depression the individual will show a lack of desire to engage in various hobbies and other types of activities that used to bring them a great deal of satisfaction and enjoyment. In many patients low levels of mood can be seen that envelops every aspect of their life. It is often hard for patients to concentrate normally, and many times they are unable to make important decisions. Other feelings that a patient generally experiences with moderate depression would include feelings of hopelessness, guilt, worthlessness, self-hatred, and helplessness. Other common depression symptoms of moderate depression include the following: • Poor memoryrn• Problems with regular sleeping pattern: sleeping way too much or not enoughrn• Thoughts about death and suicidern• Suicide attemptsrn• It is important to seek adequate treatment when signs are noticed of moderate depression, because when this condition is left untreated, it can lead to severe depression.
