Computer networking Devices or more commonly known as computer routers are a collection of hardware and computer components connected via data packets that allows data sharing and transfer within a network that can either be within a confined enterprise or a remote network using the internet. Today networking devices are widely used for wireless connection in the internet and are not limited with a computer and smart phones, tablets and other gadgets are also able to join the network. A computer network can be classified in various ways depending on the protocol, scale, scope and topology but generally it is used for data sharing between two or more end points regardless of which classification it falls under. For businesses it is essential to establish a dependable computer network since it will serve as the backbone of their communication both internal and external especially for companies that utilizes an IP based PBX their phone system. Generally there are 3 types of computer networks that is dictated by the area of coverage. The Personal Area Network (PAN) which can either be wired or wireless and is typically for residential use connecting printers, laptops, desktop computers and handhelds. The Local Area Network (LAN) which can be a wired or wireless connection and even a combination that is often seen in internet cafes, small business and organization. Finally the Global Area Network (GAN) is mainly used by mobile carriers, VoIP systems, conventional telephony systems and broadband connection. Choosing the right network device and communications equipment provider is crucial, you need to be able to know all the pros and cons of the router before purchasing also there is a big difference between a home router and business grade router. Home network devices a can create a network but with very minimal end points, usually just 4, and is often devoted to the wireless internet connectivity capabilities and not really on the data sharing end, while the latter can support a network reaching up to 32 devices all at the same time and still maintain high speed data transfers effortlessly. You can easily get in depth information about a network device via the internet; you can directly search for review, comments and feedbacks about a specific model and just get a hang of how the product works and how it can benefit you. However if you are not an internet junky and prefers to visit shop after shop personally never let the sales guy do all the talking, never hesitate to raise questions and asks for a complete walkthrough of the product. Among the communications supply that you will be purchasing for your network it is best to put a little more money on the router above anything else. The data transfer ratio is somehow directly proportional to the router speed and performance, getting one with excess port that you need is also advisable so you can easily add end points to your network without having to add or even or change the device
