Current Affairs consists of all the recent events that have taken place around us, and which have had a strong impact on our ives. Every individual needs to be updated with these affairs in order to stay updated of our surrounding. One of the larger purposes of these current affairs is that they form an important part of the syllabus in many competitive exams. Civil Services interview and exams thrive on the Current Affairs. They are like the backbone of the syllabus. You cannot pass the exam for the post of an IAS Officer if you lack in general knowledge. Even in the banking sector, if you are giving exams for any posts in the bank, current affairs form an important part of the syllabus. The main trick to pass competitive exams like IAS or banks exams is how you prepare the syllabus. You need to be aware of the recent changes in the syllabus, which is easily available on the internet. One of the reasons, students end up failing is because they are not updated with the recent syllabus and the marking scheme. For example, in IAS exams, recently there has been a slight change in the syllabus. There are two exams- the Mains: which consists of 9 exams and the preliminary exams, which consist of one General Studies paper, and 23 optional subjects, which have been replaced with the CSAT (Civil Service Aptitude Test). The main reason for this addition in the syllabus is because, the scores of the candidates varied due to the choice of various optional subjects. CSAT is a common test for all candidates, which ensures similar questions and similar markings. This change in the syllabus signifies unbiased markings. CSAT consists of two parts, speed test and power test. For bank exams, the syllabus differs according to the post you are applying for, but one thing common in the syllabus of all the exams is current affairs. If not in the exams, they grill you completely with the general knowledge questions during the interview session. In Civil Service Exams, it is obvious that if your knowledge about general knowledge is low you cannot even think of applying for the posts. However, the syllabus varies.
