Typical examples for grade 304 are: tanks, hoppers, rail wagons, structural members, food processing and medical equipment. It is commonly used in industries such as transport, chemical, fertilizer, packaging, pharmaceutical, food and beverage. Grade 304 has a density of 7.9 g/cm3 and hardness of 201 Brinell Grade 316 is used for a wide range of industrial applications where grade 304 has insufficient corrosion resistance. Typical examples are: heat exchangers, condensers, pipelines, cooling and heating coils in the chemical, petrochemical, pulp and paper and food industries.
