Isn't it strange how some people can lose weight as easy as they can blink an eye, yet many other people can't lose weight no matter what they do or how strict their diet is? Many people usually just say that this is because of genetics or even more absurdly, because of luck. This isn't necessarily the case however as there is something which many people often overlook when it comes to losing weight and that is the bacteria present in our gut.

There isn't too much information available on this topic at the current time but scientists and researchers are conducted new studies all the time. What has been concluded however, is that the different variations and quantities of living bacteria in our gut can have a huge effect on our metabolism, our eating habits, and of course how we lose weight.

Antibiotics can work wonders when dealing with infections but they kill the bacteria and can cause a lot of damage to the bacteria that is present in the gut – this will often result in weight gain. The worst part about this is that it can happen even at an early age and can be prominent until your old age.

Just like us, our guts have been evolving for the past millions of years, they have developed in such a way that they can work alongside the trillions of microbes present in the gut and have learned how to benefit from the things they do – the chemicals which are produced as waste, chemicals that are broken down, chemicals which are used to communicate, these are all processes that the microbes do. Altering the structure of the bacteria that can be found in the gut can cause problems as it will affect this balance of harmony and prevent the gut from working alongside the trillions of microbes.

To get slightly more technical, the alteration in the levels of chemicals found in the gut can have a dramatic affect on our hormone production – which will in-tu
have an affect on our health and weight. A hormone which could easily be used as an example would be Ghrelin – this is can be altered by the microbe known as H.Pylori – this particular hormone can alter the fat storage levels, gastric emptying process, and also affect our hunger and make us feel more or less full than we actually should.

So as you can see, our gut bacteria can have a huge impact on our weight, eating habits, metabolism and much more, the worst part of it all is that many people don't even realize that their gut bacteria can be having an adverse affect on their health. Take a look below to find out some ways in which you can avoid altering your gut bacteria in a negative way.

The Dangers of Antibiotics

Antibiotics can be very helpful especially for when we have an infection that could have a serious implication on our health – we can use certain antibiotics to kill off the harmful bacteria. The major problem with this however, is that the antibiotics destroy all of the bacteria, not just the harmful bacteria. Simply put, using antibiotics when it's not necessary can alter the bacteria in your gut which in turn can alter the hormones and make it difficult for you to lose or maintain your weight.

Limit Your Usage of Antibiotics

One of the best ways to improve the condition of your gut bacteria is to limit your usage of antibiotics; you should stop using antibiotics every time you get a common infection such as a cold or something similar. Instead reserve the antibiotics only for serious infections.

If you don't want to stop taking antibiotics because you're aware of the benefits that they can bring, you should also be aware of the others ways in which you can receive the same benefits without the need for antibiotics. Keeping a strict, healthy diet will work wonders for your gut bacteria and could negate the need for antibiotics all together.

With all the pressure that is associated with our modern day-to-day lives such as stress to pay bills, keep our job, keep up with mortgage payments and much more, it can often be very hard to keep a balanced diet and remember to look after yourself. However it is important to note that failing to take proper care of yourself could result in an array of various health implications, these won't be anything serious however, but they will surely add up over time.
