Sexually transmitted infections are quite common amongst men and women, especially those who are young. You can contract a sexually transmitted infection through unprotected vaginal, anal or oral sexual intercourse. Men and women who frequently change their sex partner are also at a risk of developing STIs. Men and women who have multiple sex partners are at a greater risk of contracting an STI. Most of the STIs contracted are bacterial in nature, while two most common viral STIs include genital herpes and genital warts. The genital warts are caused by a virus called the human papilloma virus.

The HPV virus has 100 different strains, of which 40 are said to be responsible for causing genital warts. The risk of genital warts is that you may develop cancers such as the cervical cancer. The HPV virus strains vary in the risk they pose for you to develop such cancers. As symptoms, you may find small growths of flesh in or around your genitals and anus. Learn more about the symptoms and causes of genital warts at healthexpress.eu. In order to confirm the diagnosis of this viral infection, you will be required to visit a doctor who will examine your genitals and anus. Although this infection can affect men and women of all ages, it is most commonly found to affect those between the ages of 17 to 33 years.

Treatment for genital warts is prescribed if the diagnosis for this viral STI is confirmed. One of the most effective and widely used prescription medications for genital warts is Condyline. It is a podophyllotoxin solution and is obtained from the roots of the Indian podophyllum plant. This antiviral medication has proven to be effective in stalling the outbreaks of genital warts that you may suffer from. It is available as a 3.5ml solution, to be applied directly to the warts. This Condyline antiviral solution should be applied with the help of the applicator provided along with it or with the tip of your finger.

You should be sure to clean our hands before and after application, and also the affected area, with soap and warm water. You should apply the solution in a thin layer on the warts until the solution disappears. The gel is to be applied at the affected area twice a day, over a period of three consecutive days. As the solution is applied, it penetrates the wart tissues and attacks the nucleus of the wart cells. As the nucleus of the cells is attacked, it falters in its function of growing and multiplying. Eventually, the wart cells die and are replaced by healthy cells in the affected area.

Take note that Condyline solution is suitable for adults and its use should strictly be avoided in children. This antiviral treatment for genital warts should also be avoided by women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Although this antiviral medication is quite effective, just like other prescription medications it can cause certain side effects. These side effects are usually mild in nature and pass away as your body gets used to the medication. Some of the common side effects include stinging on the affected area, inflammation, dizziness and vomiting. Some of the serious side effects of this antiviral, which require medical attention, include inflammation or stinging at the infected area, breakout of hives and a severe allergic reaction.
