Summer is right just a few months away. For most, that means plenty of fun in the sun at beaches, barbecues, and holiday gatherings. Summer's the time to shed all those extra clothes and let your body breathe in the stifling heat.
Naturally, you want to look your best this summer. Feeling confident enough to rock that bikini or those shorts can make the summer far more enjoyable. If you’re not quite to that point yet, here are a few tips for getting into the shape you want to be in this summer.
Cardiovascular Exercise
Cardiovascular exercise, or simply cardio, is any activity that gets you breathing hard for consistent periods. Examples of cardio exercise include running, cycling, swimming, or even sports like soccer and volleyball. Studies have consistently shown the correlation between cardio routines and increased fat-burning activity in your body, even during periods of rest. Plus, with cardio, you can get the added bonus of the chemical release of "feel-good" triggers in your brain, sometimes called runner's high.
Dietary Habits
There's not one single diet that works for everybody. In the age of the internet, fad dieting has spread like wildfire. Fad diets are unique, often strange, diets that capture popular attention, mostly on the web, gain a large following, and ultimately, fade away. Be wary of fad diets. Usually, if a new diet sounds too good to be true, it is. Look for science to back up a diet before you try it out.
There are, however, several proven dietary practices that can help you slim down. Concentrate on eating whole foods as much as possible—vegetables, fruits, whole grains, meats. Whole foods tend to be richer in nutrients as well as providing much-needed fiber that helps you feel fuller and slows down your blood sugar changes.
Whenever possible, avoid processed foods like sodas, candies, crackers, chips, and cereals. Processed foods often have filler content, such as excessive amounts of sodium, that can trigger weight gain while providing no real health benefits. These are called empty calories and eliminating them can help you look great in your summer body.
Plastic Surgery
In 2017, medical providers across the US performed 17.5 million cosmetic surgery procedures. The most common of such procedures were liposuction, breast augmentation, tummy tuck, eyelid surgery, and nose reshaping. Cosmetic surgery in 2020 is actually quite safe and effective for these top 5 common procedures. The technology has advanced enormously and the surgeries are much less invasive than in previous times. Getting the right cosmetic procedure restores many people's confidence in themselves.
Stretch
Stretching improves your flexibility which helps prevent injury. It can also keep you healthy and motivated to stay on your exercise routine to get ready for your summer beach body. Stretching can also help you relax and develop an inner peace and self-confidence that can complement your improved physical appearance well. Yoga is a great way to stretch and treat yourself.
Juicing
In addition to going on a whole-food-based diet, add in some days of "juicing". This means blending your meals, vegetables or fruits, and drinking them. Studies have shown great benefits in terms of cleaning out your system and helping with sustainable weight loss.
The most important part of summer is getting out and enjoying yourself with friends and family, but that can be difficult to do if you’re self-conscious of your appearance. If you’re ready to make some changes before summer gets here, try some of these ideas.
