Your brain is constantly attempting to make sense of the world around you and seek out comforts that will relax your mind. For a lot of people either travelling to another country for a holiday or adventure is the perfect thing for relaxing and enjoying some time off. However other people wish that they could easily go away without second guessing the means of travel. Sometimes the thought of the flight is daunting and can cause some people to become very anxious about going away. rnThere are many different theories of methods that can cure a fearful flyer. As someone who isn’t a great flyer, I too have sort after a permanent cure to flying. Having travelled to other countries all of my life it seems strange that the thought of take-off and landing can still be so daunting. Statistically flying is one of the safest ways to travel yet still some people begin to feel vulnerable in the air sitting in a metal container. rnFlight simulators are actually a great way to help people come to terms with flying. Although you may think that they will not accurately represent the feeling of being in a plane some simulations are able to re-enact exactly what a flight feels like. Flight simulators are used for train pilots for commercial flights so they have to be extremely accurate in creating the correct environment. Having someone take you through the process of flying can ease your anxiety. If you know what all of the noises, bumps and signals are then there won’t be any surprises when you are actually flying. Rather than throwing yourself into the deep end by forcing yourself to conquer your fear by sitting through a flight and hoping you will be cured it would be more prudent to first start out easy and build your way up slowly. 1) Be knowledgeable about flying. rn2) Can you pin point what exactly what It is about flying that makes you uneasy rn3) Mind over matter. Try and distract yourself so that you are not actually thinking about what is going on around you. A large part of having a phobia of something is not knowing what is going to happen next. If you are not a very experienced flyer then the chances are you literally have no idea what the protocol on an aeroplane is, so every little bump or brake might affect you more. Having each step of the journey explained to you might make you feel more secure and may even start to ignore certain things that used to scare you. rnIt is important to face your fears so that there is nothing holding you back in life. Missed opportunities are wasted opportunities! Start slowly and build your way up to being able to flying in a plane, remember to stay calm and remember and that there is nothing to worry about.Flight simulations are perfectly safe and will help you to ease yourself into relaxation on a plane. rnIf you feel that they are not going to help you then try flying with a friend or with a qualified pilot. I had the pleasure of being able to fly with a friend in a Helicopter while i was in Kenya. This truly was one of the best experiences i have ever tried. It is totally different to a plane and allows you to see so much more from above.
