Consciously and Subconsciously Redirecting Your Thoughts

I have learned that in order to redirect your thoughts, you have to consciously and subconsciously want the same thing. If your conscious mind and subconscious mind are thinking alike, you are able to achieve any goal. In other words, if subconsciously you do not really believe you will complete a task or goal, your conscious mind will not allow you to complete it. Here is a scenario from my life to help you understand more clearly:

My failed marriage ended in 2004 and I was devastated. I finally realized in 2008, the relationship was over and it was time for me to move on with my life. Consciously I made the decision to move on but subconsciously I believed that my previous relationship was the only relationship I was worthy of having. I held onto old pictures, old furniture, old habits and old ways. I went through my daily routines with very little change from my previous relationship except for the fact that my husband was no longer there. You see, consciously I was telling myself it was over but subconsciously because I did not believe the same thing, I was holding on to my old way of doing things. It took me 7 long years to realize what my problem was with letting go of my failed relationship. The light bulb was finally bright enough so that I was able to see. Now on to redirecting my thoughts…

First things first, I decided it was time to move on consciously. I removed all of my old family pictures, refu
ished my home and redirected my thoughts and attention from the failed relationship to new possibilities. During the first week of the change, I experienced extreme highs and lows in my emotions. Things were different. Realization set in and I saw things differently. I began to notice my surroundings. I began feeling a sense of urgency to completely change my environment. I suddenly realized that 11 long years had passed and I was continuing to live the same life as before, minus the husband. One morning, after the change, while walking out of the door for work, I stumbled into my couch causing me great pain. Ouch! It not only hurt but it was a big reminder consciously and subconsciously that my old ways were no longer a part of my current reality. Previously, I was telling myself one thing but believing something different. Wow was that all it took for me to finally get over the old relationship and move on? Yes! It was just that simple.

This reality of redirecting my thoughts consciously and subconsciously has not only helped me with moving on in my relationship; it has also allowed me to begin achieving lifelong goals. Holding on to old routines, old things and/or old patterns will keep you in your old ways. Make sure your conscious mind and subconscious mind wants the same thing.
