Contextual advertizing, this has created ripples in the web marketing world and has supposedly taken e-retailing to another level altogether. “Contextual marketing”; if it has to be defined in layman’s terms then contextual advertising is placing your advertisement on another website with the help of search engine. Sounds simple, right? Well not exactly, as there are do’s and don’ts that are attached to it that are responsible for making it an outstanding traffic attracting tool.
Going about contextual ad needs little research; you first need to find out publisher websites as in websites that is going to publish your advertisement. There are many websites that are registered with search engines and the search engine itself assists you in locating publisher website for you. Once you get a list of all the publisher websites, then the next stage is to acquire a JavaScript code that can be embedded into the publisher website. This code is a link mode that enables display of your audio/video/image/content advertisement on the publisher website.
Your contextual advertisement should be keyword rich and the keyword registered with the search engine. This is so because whenever any visitor will type the keyword, the search engine will direct the traffic to the publisher website. The advertisement might come as a pop-up or can be displayed in a separate window whenever people click on the link.
Now you must be wondering as to why will a website display your advertisement. Well, simply because they get paid for it. Actually the publisher websites work in association with search engines. They get a share of the money that you as an ad maker will pay to the search engine for display of your advertisement. Moreover, they also get extra traffic, all thanks to you. Of course, all visitors clicking on your link will also get to visit the publisher website and if they are interested in the publisher website’s product range/service, then they are definitely going to invest in them.
A word of caution, whenever you are narrowing down your search for publisher website, ascertain that they are of your niche. As in if your website is about condiments and their uses, you can publish on the recipe website. Another thing that you need to do is to not jump on the first publisher website that comes your way. Ascertain the credibility and success rate of all the websites that you are interested in. Compare the success rate of other websites too of your niche and then chose the most appropriate one. You can also do one thing, place your ad in four or five publisher website and then after some time gauge the outcome for all of them in terms of traffic inflow. Once you get to know as to which one yields maximum click, make it your prime ad display website and remove your advertisements from the others.
