Here are some new and innovative methods to make vegetarianism more appealing. Many people have certain misconceptions regarding vegetarian food. They assume that by going vegetarian, you have to consume bland, boiled veggies all day and give up on all the good stuff. This is certainly not true, because vegetarian food can be tasty and extremely healthy- but for that to happen, you need to change your mindset regarding vegetarianism and view it as a way of life instead of an imposition. Merely substituting vegetables for meat in recipes will not do the trick. You need to look at ways in which to enhance the aspects of the vegetables in a manner that will please your palate and appease your senses. Most importantly, vegetarian cooking should include the right food groups so that you derive all the requisite nutrients from it. As such, following a balanced diet is a must. The good thing is that if you become a vegetarian, there are limitless ways in which you can cook up new dishes simply because of the amazing versatility of vegetables that can be used in creative and interesting ways. Here are a few ideas that can make your dream of turning into a vegetarian a reality: Exploring Your Options Explore your options and see what works best for you. Look for interesting ways to cook that maintain the health quotient of your food. Stir frying your dishes is one of the best ways to consume vegetables as this method requires very little time and effort and also retains the crisp and crunchy texture of vegetables, which is so important. Try Different Cultural Foods Expand your horizons and try out multicultural vegetarian foods. Indian cuisine, for example, has many different vegetarian options, be it their rice pilaf, or dals (lentils) that are cooked with onions, ginger, tomatoes, and other vegetables. Similarly, Thai food or Tex Mex options such as black beans and rice are also a good way to get your nutrients without turning to meat for the same. Experiment Get a little adventurous and experiment. The internet is a wonderful resource where you can get plenty of recipes and know-how in learning to make certain foods. Use colorful bell peppers, the ever versatile aubergine and okra, or try a dish with exotic mushrooms.
