Coping strategies for depression.. Even the most positive and pro active person can find it is very difficult to climb past the problems and feelings that come with suffering from depression. There are all sorts of things to think of. Not just how you feel, but how others see you and how it affects your normal every day life. A mother might find it very hard to do something as simple as changing a nappy or bathing their baby, things that before the illness took hold of them were easy. If the illness is very severe a simple thing like going from one room to another or making a cup of coffee can seem insurmountable.

So what can the sufferer do to make it more manageable? They can take tiny, tiny steps. If they find it very hard to just go into the kitchen, put the kettle on and make some coffee then maybe they should do it bit by bit. Perhaps the first part is to go from one room to the other and then sit down for a while and then get the mug, then have a rest, then put the kettle on and rest while it boils and so on. When you can deal with the small tasks speed them up and then move on to biger and bigger ones. But do not give yourself any sort of deadline or dates that you must aim for, take it a day at a time.

Cheer yourself up if you can. Maybe watch a dvd of one of your favourite comedians or a favourite film, something that tickles your funny bone. Laughter really is the best medicine. Chat to someone you know who you know has a great sense of humour and a lifting spirit.

Get help! There is no need to be ashamed of turning to a professional for support. We all need help at times. They do this all the time, it is easy for them but they do care and they do undertand it better than people who love you but who are not well versed on the subject. You can read a lot more about this and other subjects that relate to our well being and happiness at http://www.askagonyaunt.com/#/coping-with-depression/ 4550854325 which are put together by leading and qualified experts in the field. “Happy” holidays? Let’s face it… the holidays can be the hardest time of the year by a longshot after you’ve lost someone dear to you. In a time where friends and family are meant to gather together, it’s all too easy to focus on the one face that’s missing from the picture. To top it all off, we’re now nine months into a worldwide pandemic that seems set on keeping us apart from those we would usually spend quality time with right about now. Trust me when I s
