Premature ejaculation affects as many as 40 million adults in the US and is considered the number one male sexual dysfunction in the world. Although there have been many products that are out in the market claiming to be the number one solution for premature ejaculation, you can actually use self-managed therapies which you can do at the privacy of your bedroom.
Recent studies conclude that the key to holding one's ejaculation to last longer in bed is the ability to control arousal. If you have difficulty controlling your arousal level, it will peak up sooner and your orgasm and release of sperm become inevitable. That may make your partner frustrated, specially if this happens too often.
The good news is that you can control your arousal level even without taking medications or applying any cream or lotion to your penis. The secret lies in learning the right breathing technique to control your arousal level. Breathing can both be involuntary (sleeping) or voluntary (during relaxation exercises) which means it may be controlled in some instances. You can make breathing voluntary during sex, and you can be in full control of the frequency and depth of each breath that you take. It is important to be aware of how you are breathing, because your breathing is an important indication of how aroused you are.
Most men, however, think that short fast breaths during sex are just natural. What actually happens is that short fast breaths can trigger early ejaculation because the heart pumps faster to keep up with the speed of your breathing. As the heart pumps faster, your arousal peaks up. A heightened arousal prior to your partner achieving orgasm can be quite frustrating for your partner.
In other words, the faster you breathe, the sooner your arousal will reach its peak. Try to keep a steady breathing, maybe about 3-6 seconds interval between each breath and you will be able to control your arousal better.
After about a minute of thrusting and controlled breathing, take a very deep breath and hold it for 3-5 seconds. Release the air slowly as you try to put yourself in a calm state. Concentrate only on the breath you are taking in and releasing. If your premature ejaculation condition is so advanced, try doing this breathing technique often, even during masturbation. When you're ready to try this on your partner, focus on the sensations of the sexual act and each breath that you take. Doing so will allow you to appreciate better how breathing affects premature ejaculation.
