It can be tough to deal with depression after any break up. The difficult part is knowing that you are not both together any more and she has broken your heart. There are certain steps you need to go through in order to learn how to deal with depression after breaking up. It's going to take some time to follow these steps and follow through with them but you will get there in the end.

Ensure that do not get in touch with her. It's the best thing all round if you keep your distance at first. You are unlikely to get over your depression if you contact her. Always keep in mind that when trying to cope with depression after breaking up, you should try not to see that person that made you depressed in the first place.

Try to chuck away items that she may have given you or any photographs featuring the two of you as a couple. It's important that if you can't bear to throw these things, that you store them away out of sight somewhere. Keeping these things will only serve to keep reminding you of her. Ensure that she gets any items that still remain that you haven't thrown out. It's important that you continue to keep your distance and don't see her yourself to hand back the items.

You should ensure you show your emotions and don't keep things bottled up when coping with depression following a break -up. How come there is a common misconception that men don't cry? Either cry out the depression or write it down in your diary. There's no doubt that you will feel vastly better when you let your feelings out. Release your feelings rather than keeping them stored up as that isn't good for you.

It's important that you feel content by doing things you enjoy. Take part in sports or take up some new hobby. The sole purpose is to think about something else for a while. If you are to cope with depression after a break-up then you have to focus your mind on other things. If you really want to take your mind off the break up fully then taking up a sport to challenge every aspect of yourself is potentially the perfect thing to do.

Spend time with family and head out with friends. Don't sit around in the house but get out there and make new friends. There's little point in sitting alone and dwelling on things as this will only serve to make the depression worse. Why don't you head for a drink with your friends? Or maybe you can share some moments with your family? You will feel a lot better when you around those that love you, not to mention that you are improving your relationship with them. All of these are great tips when coping with depression after breaking up.

Start to focus on your future and look forward to it with a renewed positive outlook. You should always remember that just because your ex-girlfriend chose to end things with you, this doesn't mean your life is over. Try to move forward and remember that she is not the only woman around. Finding love with someone else is definitely on cards after a break up.

These tips will help you to cope with depression after a break up. Time is a great healer when it comes to break ups, so let time heal your wounds. Your relationship with her was most probably far from perfect, but try to learn from what went wrong with it.
