If you want to see how the largest democracy works then make sure that you are in India before 26th Jan. On this day, the country transacts no business. The offices are closed, factories are down and shops are shut as everyone enjoys the freedom. The parade in Delhi is a show of military prowess of the country and the good thing is that the politicians from top echelons participate in the parade.
The celebrations are over in a day and the country is back to business on 27th Jan. Next in the list of national holidays 2013 is Holi that is also known as festival of colors. It is a celebration that Indians wait for whole year. In 2013, it would fall on 27th March. That day would be a holiday. People would put colors on each-others’ faces and eat delicacies.

Holi is a mind blowing and mind refreshing festival. On this very day, people forget all their sins and hug each-other with love, affection and friendship. This festival brings people closer and makes them friends forever. It is said that this festival is the right time to end animosity and start friendship. Indians live in peace and harmony and it is revealed by Holi celebrations.
After Holi, the summer begins and ends on the arrival of monsoon. They rainy season brings relief from the scorching heat and also start the festivals. The first festival after rain is Raksh-Bandhan. It is festival of brotherhood. It shows how much love and affection a brother has for his sister. It would fall on 21st August in the calendar of national holidays 2013.
Navratri that is also known as shopping festival are the nine days that start the shopping season for Indians. Businesses wait for whole year for these days. In the calendar of national holidays 2013, Navratri would start on 5th October and would conclude on Dussehra celebrations on 14th Oct. After Dussehra comes Diwali, the festival of lights.
