I'm not an early adopter--which means I never got a Blackberry andnnever have fallen into the evil Crackberry addiction, like so manynof my friends-in-frenzy. Whew! One more thing I don't have to gonthrough the D.T.'s to release!

That's why I found "Kiss Your Wife, Not the Blackberry", in thenSunday 12/2/07 NY Times, gratifying. The CEO of Empower Public
Relations, based in Chicago, issued a ban on employee use of their
Blackberry after hours and on weekends. He reports that after 10nmonths, his company is a "happier, more productive" place.

In fact, my Wellness Coach, Pebble Beach-based Jo Perron, MD, (withnwhom I enjoyed yoga teacher training several years ago) and I setnup a program of mini-meditations for me, because I confess I findnit hard to sit still for more than ten minutes at a time--much lessnbe the "perfect meditator."

My mission: to become aware, approximately twelve times a day, ofnfive-minute moments of mental relaxation. That way I get in a full
60 minutes, and I don't have to feel like it's one more thing toncheck off my list.

Imagine how a Crackberry would siphon possible meditative momentsninto the great digital vortex! We can benefit from mentalnrelaxation even in bite-sized pieces. We don't have to be on anbeach in Bali to get it.

Studies are proving that multi-tasking (especially talking on thenphone while driving, even with a headset) can be hazardous to yournhealth. So rather than being available to all comers at all times n(through your invasive electronics), try some mental exclusivity.
Focus on one thing at a time.
