Create a Personal Oasis of Calm

Nature’s Shortcut to Peacefulness
100 years ago, most Americans still lived on farms or in small towns. The telegraph ruled the world of communication. There were no airplanes, televisions or computers. And the buggy whip industry was still going strong.
We live in a different world today. It took thousands of years to replace candles with the electric light. But only 20 to replace videotapes with DVDs.
Today, change moves at the speed of light. And there’s only one thing that’s keeping up… stress. Our stress levels barely rose for millennia. But in the past 100 years, stress has skyrocketed. And your body can’t keep up.
That’s why stress is such an issue today. For 250,000 years, human stress barely budged. Then – quite suddenly – stress has gone through the roof. It’s like waking up one morning and realizing you need a third arm to survive. It simply isn’t going to happen.
But you don’t have to give in to all the stress your hectic life throws at you. Your body may not be able to handle all that stress on its own. But you can still create a personal oasis of calm in a stress-filled world.
And one of the most effective stress-busters I know is inositol.
Inositol is a nutrient that’s closely related to the B vitamins. In fact, it used to be considered one.
Your body uses inositol for many processes. Maintaining healthy cell membranes… the breakdown of fats and blood cholesterol… calcium regulation… nerve signaling… and certain nerve functions.
We’ve discovered these “nerve functions” may extend to the brain.
Take the blues, for instance. When you’re overwhelmed by modern stress, it’s easy to wind up feeling blue. But researchers in Israel – where stress can be extremely high – found that inositol can help.
Doctors gave inositol to a group of people suffering the blues. A second group received a dummy pill. After 4 weeks, the inositol group felt far more upbeat and positive. The other group made no progress.1
You probably know people who “freak out” under stress, too. The pressure builds up and up until they crack… and panic ensues.
Well, studies show inositol may help there, too.
In a mental health center study, people taking inositol freaked out less often. And when they felt stressed, it was at a much lower level than before taking inositol.2
Scientists at Wayne State University also discovered that many people who suffer with severe mood swings have low inositol levels.3 The theory is that normalizing inositol levels may erase those mood swings. So far, it looks good.
Inositol effectively promotes calm… yet it has few side effects. Plus, it may deliver a healthy bonus, too.
Doctors at an Italian hospital gave inositol to a group of patients and put them on a diet. They took a 2nd group of patients and gave them the same diet with a placebo – an inactive look-alike pill.
The placebo group didn’t see any changes. But the people who took inositol sure did. At the end of the study, their blood pressure had dropped, they had 20% less triglycerides (fat) in their blood, and their good (HDL) cholesterol was up by 22%.4
In a way, this “bonus” is just another way inositol helps you beat stress. Because I’m sure you’ll feel less stressed and calmer if you don’t have to worry about these 3 important health indicators.
Yours in continued good health,

Moving Meditation: How Precision-Based Exercise Supports Mental and Emotional Growth
Movement is one of the most honest forms of self-connection. The body never lies. It holds stress, records emotion, and reveals when something feels off. For many, this is why exercise has always been more than fitness; itâs therapy through motion. But not all movement heals. Some styles exhaust, others distract.
