Creative Ways to Say “I love You”

Valentine's Day is almost at our doors, and everyone starts feeling the “love fever”. It is like when this time of the year strikes, people feel the urge to compensate the lack of romance in their everyday life by splurging on fancy romantic gifts, making fabulous surprises, and coming up with numerous creative ways to say “I love you”.

Still, making romantic gestures and showing your appreciation for the people in your life shouldn't be limited to only one day of the year. Whether you want to surprise your partner or a friend or a family member, you can come up with an unusual way to demonstrate your love. The power of an unexpected gesture must not be underestimated, as it can mean the world to the other person.

Here are some creative ways to say “I love you” on that one day of the year when love is everywhere, and you have the freedom to go crazy and do something bold, overly cute or subtle, if you are not into dramatic gestures. Some of the suggestions here are more serious than other but the main idea behind all of them is to give you some food for thought, and, maybe, help you come up with an idea of your own:

For Your Loved One:

1. Watch the sunset together – Nothing is more romantic than sharing the romance of the sun going down (or up for that matter). Make some preparations by assembling a pick-nick basket with wine and... no, not sandwiches, but something more Valentine's-Day-themed like oysters or something more moderate like red velvet cupcakes. Playing some slow music in the background will certainly do the trick, too.

2. Spend some quality time together – there are numerous ways to make the time you spend with your partner special, and romantic. You can set a “no-media” evening when you get to simply indulge in each other's company without relying on films, TV or social media to fill your time. Another way to spend quality time together is to choose a book, and take turns to read out loud.

3. Recreate your first date – It doesn't matter if it was a romantic outing in a fancy restaurant or going for burgers with fries to the nearest McDonald's, it is the shared reminiscence that will make it special, and romantic.

For the Important People in Your Life

1. Throw a surprise party – Not just a regular gathering with close friends and relatives, but a “We Love You” party where everyone gives a short speech about why the person the event is dedicated to is appreciated and loved. The best part is that since it has not been expected, the experience will be even more precious to the person you have decided to surprise.

2. Become a “Merry Maid” - Helping out a friend by cleaning his/ her office, kitchen, bedroom or car is guaranteed not only to surprise him/ her but it will also be highly appreciated. However, if you are not a cleaning mastermind, you might want to simply gift your dear one a voucher for one of the services of Fantastic Cleaners at Kensington.

3. Gift something hand-made – While you might not be the handiest person in your family, taking the time to work on a DIY project, and putting in your best efforts to make it look at least semi-decent will speak louder than any words about how much you love your friend, relative or partner.

Do you have any other ideas how to creatively say “I love you” to the people in your life?

Science is, at its core, a process—a framework for testing questions about the world with detailed and structured observations of it to gain knowledge and understanding. Contrary to what some may believe, the scientific process has always been a universal one, accessible to the common people, even if the largest and most newsworthy discoveries are usually left to those with greater time and resources.
