A crossover car is a vehicle that combines features from a conventional passenger vehicle with that of a sports utility vehicle. This will traditionally include high ground clearance, all-wheel-drive capability and large interior space. The term ‘crossover’ is fairly new and many people can probably not tell the difference between a conventional SUV and a so-called crossover. Some vehicles built on this crossover platform will therefore just be labelled as station wagons. Crossover cars can be found in a range of different sizes from the more compact versions such as the BMW X3 and the Toyota Rav4, via the mid-sized offerings like Hyundai Santa Fe to the full-sized Audi Q7 and Mazda CX-9. Other derivatives are vehicles such as the Volvo XC70, the Suzuki SX4 and the Mazda 5. Popular new crossovers are the likes of Nissan Quashqai and Peugeot 3008. The Quashqai is described as roomy and comfortable as well as affordable to buy and own. The resale value is also strong. The Peugeot 3008 gives you a classy interior and is a great all-rounder for families. It’s also quite reasonably priced but won’t hold its value as well as the Nissan. In the used crossover market it is the Nissan Quashqai which is the most popular along with the Volvo XC and the Skoda Yeti. Other cars to consider are the Honda HR-V and the Suzuki SX4. The Honda is said to be a fun ride but not that good off road. The Suzuki SX4 is described as good to drive and attractively priced. To try out a crossover like a used Suzuki SX4, Staffordshire is one area where you will find dealers who can help you out.
