The reason for the change has been, that the optional subjects lead to variations in the final scores and made the results biased. Hence CSAT is introduced which is common to all the students and shows more genuine results. Finally, the interview session is followed where you are face-to-face discussion with highly trained professionals in the respective field and you are recruited based on your over-all performance. Thus, with the help of CSAT, it has become easier for the students to prepare their syllabus and study for the IAS exams. They are one of the major posts offered by civil services and are highly coveted.
