Kolkata, previously named as Calcutta, is the capital city of West Bengal. It is a town that is rich in traditions, art and values. The citizens of this place loves academic discussions on everything from cricket to movies, plays, exhibitions, art and film festivals all round the year. It is the major commerical centre in the eastern part of the country, and a major contributor to the world of literature, art and cinema both nationwide and across the nation.

Kolkata is the birthplace of British Empire and the home town of late Rabindra Nath Tagore and Mother Teresa therefore it is considered as the intellectual and cultural capital of India. The city has some of India's major attraction sites such as Victoria Memorial, Howrah Bridge, St. Paul's Cathedral, Kalighat temple Eden Gardens and busy narrow streets. Kolkata was once the capital city of British India and the Entrance to India till the year 1912. Hence this city consists of many monarchy monuments, religious flavors and cultural bonds. Music, drama, song, theatre and dance are major parts of the culture. The city offers a variety of cuisines, dishes and broad range of sweets.
