Current affairs are an important part of our lives. We need to stay updated in this world full of dangers and unexpected happening of events. Most importantly, current affairs help us to stay connected with the entire world. An unexpected event occurs every minute. The important events are spread like wild fire in the form of current affairs. The event or incident which has made an impact in some or the other gets recorded in the form of general knowledge. Any political agreement or business deal that has taken place in any corner of the world is spread through the media and reaches our country and vice versa. It helps India, like other countries to stay updated with the growth and failures of the neighboring country and take necessary precautions if it faces any threat. In 2011, when Japan was hit by an earthquake, it not only devastated the country but also caused terrible damage to all the countries that had strong business contacts with Japan, it also included India. rnSince our school time, teachers start emphasizing on the importance of current affairs in our lives. Subjects like general knowledge acquaint the students with interesting facts and information, not just from India but from all around the world. This increases the curiosity level of the student and provokes him/her to know more. Thus a sense of staying aware and updated is instilled in the child. This grows with time and as we grow up we realize how our lives are dependent on the current affairs around us. A person who is not aware of the ongoing events is considered to be cut out from the rest of the world, while an aware individual is usually called an intellectual as he/she can interact openly and start a conversation with every day. Being updated gives you a sense of being a knowledgeable person and boosts up your confidence level.rnAnother important role played by current affairs is during the competitive exams. Due to globalization, the world has become much smaller and inter-connected. There is a growing need of interdependency amongst the countries which has led to many peaceful pacts. This has been possible with the help of easy accessibility of the information regarding the current happenings in any country. This growing popularity of current affairs is evident in the competitive exams, which dedicate a major portion to eh current affairs. Thus, in today’s world current affairs have become an inevitable part of our lives. We must not only be aware of the current happenings in India, but must be updated with the ongoing events in the world. Many incidents have occurred in this year, 2011 which have turned fruitful for some while others have learnt from their failures.
