Cystic acne is a type of localized acne infection that comes about as a result of the blockage of oil ducts and pores on the skin. The blockage will also come about as a result of bacterial infection. Cystic acne is the worst type of acne you could ever suffer from, as it develops into tiny cysts that cause discomfort and lots of pain. They say prevention is better than cure so the best remedy for any form of acne is prevention. However, some people discover that it is beyond their control, for example the people who are genetically pre-disposed to acne.
Not to be discouraged though, should you develop cystic acne, there are a number of home remedies that can help provide some form of relief. Such remedies are certainly of interest for sufferers who are keen to avoid anti-acne drugs that although may work whilst taking them, have been known to cause problems. The following are some of the most effective cystic home remedies ever known to man.
Take a raw potato and grate it into a piece of cloth. Create a pad with it and press it firmly onto the cystic acne in circular motions. This is one of the best remedies of not only cystic acne but also acne scars.
While still at it, peel a potato and grate it to squeeze off all its juice. Take the juice and apply it on the affected areas, leaving it there for 15 minutes before rinsing off with cool distilled water. Potato juice introduces a level of alkalinity on your affected areas, thus breaking down and getting rid of oil in the pores of the skin. Further, raw potato juice contains vital vitamins to help reduce swelling and redness on the affected areas.
Oatmeal facemask is an equally effective cystic acne home remedy. The facemask can be prepared in two ways. You can both cook your oatmeal and allow cooling in the fridge before applying on the affected areas, or simply mixing your oatmeal in cold distilled water and applying the mask in the affected areas. Leave for around 30 minutes to ensure it dries off completely before rinsing it off with cool distilled water.
Oatmeal contains healing properties and will help dry out the clogged skin pores, thus facilitating healing. As you rub it off your skin while rinsing it off, it will be exfoliating the top layer of the skin, thus getting rid of dead skin cells and opening up the skin for healing.
Margosa, commonly referred to as neem leaves, is also an effective cystic acne home remedy. Simply crush the neem leaves before mixing them with a pinch of turmeric powder. Apply the resulting paste in the affected area, to help get rid of the oil that clogs skin pores and reduce pimples.
Despite the fact that acne is a stubborn skin condition, at least there is some reassurance in the fact that there are affordable home remedies to help combat the problem, or at least assuage it. This is especially important if the individual would rather avoid taking prescription medication that can cause unpleasant and damaging side effects
