Daily Affirmative Prayer - Make Amends

"Negative states of mind such as guilt, shame, judgment, or non-forgiveness cloud our sense of worthiness and we begin to feel that we are not worthy to receive. If there is any condition of lack, then it’s not God's fault. The problem lies with the receiver. That's you and me. Are we truly open to receive Spirit's gifts? If so, we experience unlimited prosperity; if not there must be barriers we have placed in the way of receiving.” - Ernest Holmes

I look at this day, September 11th, as an opportunity for me to release from my mind any negative thoughts of guilt, shame, judgment or non-forgiveness. My heart still carries the sadness for all the families directly affected by the tragic events of that day. And this prayer is not intended to in any way diminish their loss, but for me I must find a way to forgive for I know that if I carry hatred in my heart towards anyone, even when their actions are unforgivable, then I attract to me more hatred. The cycle of abuse must stop somewhere so I choose to let it start with me; for I am the only one I can change. I am responsible for my thoughts, my feelings, my beliefs, my actions and my reactions. If I must find gratitude for this day then I am grateful for the courageous men and women that gave their lives in their attempts to rescue their fellow men and women who died in a senseless act of violence. I am grateful for every person today that sits in remembrance and feels the pain, grief and loss. I am grateful for anyone that can find someplace in themselves to forgive, no matter how small, so we can truly heal as a country. I am grateful I am always given the opportunity to look at all persons I have harmed and know I am willing to make amends to them all. I know hate begets hate and love begets love and I know it is okay to be caught in the mystery of standing in between. I surrender to standing in the mystery; knowing only I can move me more fully into the place of unconditional love for all people, for all mankind, for planet earth.
