There are times in my life that I just feel like quitting. I get too preoccupied with the things I have to do, and with the responsibilities I have to take. There’s one thing in mind that keeps running “I’ve just got to finish this” - then I will be free.
But above all the pressures in life there’s something inside me crying out to the Father I long to. All because I tend to take Him for granted amidst the business of this world.
What is life really all about? Is it about my hobbies? My desires? My school? My responsibilities? My ministry? Is it about being a Christian -keeping a good reputation about the things I do? What is life really all about?
Then I remember the story of Martha and Mary in the Gospel (Luke 10:38-41). Martha was busy with the things (she thought) could please the Lord. But do you know what Jesus said? “Martha, Martha, you are worried and upset about many things, but only one thing is needed. Mary has chosen the better, and it will not be taken from her.”
“But Only One Thing is needed.”
There’s something about Jesus words that break my heart. The reality that there are times I miss the point. I miss the only thing God wants - and it’s me. B.O.O.T. is needed - But Only One Thing is needed- and it is who? - it’s You. Yes we can do things for Him, but there’s nothing more pleasing to Him than as we take time in His presence, and surrender our lives to Him (Romans 12:1). God loves us not for what we do but for who we are. And in His eyes - we are forever loving because of Jesus Christ.
Take time with God - our Abba Father. Know that He’s more conce
ed about your life. He wants you and only you. Quit doing things for God - but start doing things for Him, about Him, and with Him. Enjoy Him in his presence. Seek His face and not his hands. Seek the intimacy that can never be taken away from you. That's what life is all about - It’s all about Him.
