Dance

A word synonymized with happiness and joy, and sometimes applied with a pinch of amusing sarcasm, shows that the very context in which it is used, can draw varied (but strong) emotions and feelings. As a Dance Company India, we bring to you, a complete overview of how Dance and Creativity has come so far throughout the mankind’s history, and continue to evolve into astounding forms. Let’s begin with how ‘Dance’ came into being. From the ancient times, dancing has been a form of expression. It has been working like a medium when it comes to expressing emotions. Newer dance genre like Tron Dance shows how dance can sync with technology, creating an exceptional performance for the audience. Mental relaxation and refreshment is what one can reap from dancing. Dance, also a form of entertainment, can provide laughter and fun to those who enjoy doing it. Not just that, dance has evolved into mean to stay fit and healthy. Dance in India comprises a wide variety of forms, classified into classical or folk. As it is with the different cultures of India, different dance forms evolved taking other cultural elements of the country. A classical dance comprises of theories and training built for practicing expression which can be traced to ancient classical texts, ‘Natya Shastra’ in particular. A teacher-disciple tradition or ‘Guru-Shishta Parampara’ is involved to help with the practice of Indian Classical Dance. Dancers undergo physical exercises and extensive training to systematically sync all the elements of a dance performance. Almost every dance company India has come up with its “unique” dance form. But looking back to the origin, the dance forms have been influenced by the ancient practices. The Vedas consisted of the rituals in the form of performance arts which not just included dance and music, but also had dialogues to give a dramatic representation of the spiritual theme. Bharatnatyam is the classical dance from Tamil Nadu, practiced mostly by women. It is usually performed over Carnatic music. Kathakali evolved to be performed in plays depicting plays and mythical legends of Hindu mythology. It originated in Kerala. Kathak, originated in the northern states of India, attributed to the ancient storytellers or Kathakars. Kuchipudi of Andhra Pradesh, a religious dance form linked to temples and worship, originated in a village of Krishna District. But these contemporaries are more from the eastern part of the globe. When it comes to the west, creativity is on a whole new level! Dance genres like Jazz, Hip Hop, Ball dance, Salsa, Balboa, Tango, Tap Dance have shown that Dance is just like water, taking shape of a dancer’s thought. Not just that, newer dance genres do not cease to make an impression in the eastern world! And surprisingly, people (from a more conservative society) are enjoying this high paced adoption of such modern genres. Dance has the potential to circumvent the national boundaries and unite the world with love and entertainment. The Glowdiators, a dance company India, is leading the group of dancers who can fire up the creativity in dance among other Indian Dance Artists. Performance arts like ‘Tron Act’ are making a strong buzz in the media and forming the path for young artists to come up with more creativity and different dance genres for the world see.
