A chronic condition which is simply a flaking of the skin from the scalp is how we simply describe dandruff. It is the shredding of dead skin cells that is commonly triggered by certain weather conditions. Some people experience remarkably large amount of flaking though it is but normal for the skin cells to die and flake off. If you are frequently exposed to either extreme heat or cold, this will likely cause your scalp to itch.
Dandruff can also be caused by a scalp specific fungus. It could also be the appearance of an allergic reaction you get from using hair products such as hair gels, shampoos and oils. Although not proven, it is believed by some that it is an infection you get from sharing combs, soaps, towels or hairbrushes from somebody who is suffering dandruff.
It is an unsightly vision to see white flakes falling on your shoulders, sometimes in the eyebrows, the nose and even the ears. Not only does it bring embarrassment, it also lowers self-esteem aside from the annoying itchiness and irritation of your scalp.
A lot of over-the-counter dandruff treatment shampoos are now easily available. These shampoos use specific ingredients targeted to control dandruff. But little do we know that there are equally many treatment techniques that we can use by just using some home-found ingredients and materials. The most common is the solution of vinegar and hot water. With a 2:6 ratio, you can dab it on the scalp using a towel or cotton.

ight, you can then wash it in the morning with shampoo. You can also use fresh lime juice and adding it in the last-rinse water. This will keep your hair glowing and prevents dandruff reoccurrence. Massaging the scalp with a mixture of almond and olive oil and leaving it for 5 minutes before rinsing, will also work perfectly well.
You may also watch the food you eat, so maintain a healthy diet. Fresh fruits and vegetables is always good for you, along with raw nuts and grain cereals. A diet rich in B-complex vitamins, zinc and essential fatty acids may help prevent dandruff.
