Munnar is a beautiful hill station in the Indian state of Kerala and was once the summer resort of the British. Munnar tourist attractions are enriched with vast tea plantations, guest houses and the attractive flora and fauna which make it really beautiful and traditional in itself. It is a good place to stay for tourists, with many hotels in Munnar that take utmost care of the accommodation and hospitality of their guests. Tourists flock to see and enjoy the surrounding countryside which is quite popular with Indian honeymooners as well. Munnar is at a height of 2,695 m above sea level. Among famous Munnar tourist attractions is Atukkad Waterfalls which is a scenic waterfalls amidst hills and jungles, the Blossom Park, also known as Hydel Park, Pothamedu View Point, Floriculture Centre which is an extremely well-kept garden with a large variety of flowers and some foliage plants, all against the backdrop of the tea plantations, Photo Point, a small place filled with woods and a small stream and a good location to take photos and the Kolukkumalai Tea Estate as well. One can get involved in a host of excursions and sport activities in Munnar like Rock Climbing and Rappelling, walking in the clouds, boating, cycling and horse riding and so on. For a day trip from Munnar, the Mattupetti Dam is a good choice. It is located at a distance of 10 km from Munnar and can be easily covered by hiring a private taxi from the hotel premises itself. It is a popular picnic spot which has many activities to explore like boating and horse riding and is a great place to spend the day especially if visiting with children. You could take the speed boat ride which is just out of the world and makes for a fantastic experience. It costs Rs 300 for a 15 minutes drive, if you have to hire a boat exclusively for you and your family alone. The maximum capacity is 5 persons and you could save some money if you are a group of 4-5. One could go touch the water by walking down few steps from the gate and a bridge across the dam for a nice view. This is one of the must visit places in a Munnar trip. The entire area exhibits a wonderful view of the perennial water surrounded by lush green plants. The panoramic view offered by the serene lake and hills is worth travelling a long distance. After a long day's excursion and some memorable moments of the surrounding scenic beauty captured in your camera, you can head back to his hotel room and retire satisfactorily within the confines of your room. Among good Munnar hotels, one can put up at the T& U Hotel. It is a 3 star property, located at a distance of 500 meters from the main Munnar town. The hotel offers breathtaking view of the surrounding hills and mountain ranges and is located at a distance of 130 km from the nearest railway station or airport.
